Sponsor a Marathon Runner (update)

Congratulations to parishioner Ann Davidson who has completed the 2008 Vancouver Marathon in Canada on Sunday, 4th May in a personal best time of 4hr 15m.  Ann ran this marathon on behalf of St. Margaret's One World Group to raise money for Scottish International Relief (S.I.R.), and specifically 'Mary's Meals'.  A considerable amount of sponsor money has already come in, but if you sponsored Ann for this very worthy cause and have not yet handed in the funds please do so now.  You can hand sponsor money in at Church to Ann or any other member of the One World Group.

Relic of St. Margaret

The Ursuline Sisters of Jesus have for some time been the custodians of the remaining existing relic of St. Margaret at St. Margaret's Convent in Edinburgh where they first arrived in 1835.  On Sunday, 22nd June (at 3pm) a Mass of Thanksgiving will be held in St. Margaret's Church, Gillis to celebrate the life and mission of the Ursuline Sisters.  At the conclusion of this Mass, the relic of St. Margaret will be handed over to our Parish to be returned to Dunfermline where it will ultimately be lodged in the altar of the Lady Chapel in St. Margaret's Memorial Church, Dunfermline.  A ceremony of dedication will take place on the anniversary of St. Margaret on 16th November.

Parish Medals

On Thursday, 15th November 2007 at the anniversary Mass on the feastday of St. Margaret, Cardinal Keith Patrick O'Brien presented medals to two long-serving parishioners of St. Margaret's, Dunfermline.  Mrs. Jean Connor received the Archdiocesan medal for her services to the Parish over many years.  Jeffrey Gibbons received the Bene Merenti medal for his services to the Parish and throughout the diocese over many years.
